Sephora Sun Safety Kit

It had to have been fate. I was originally at the mall to look for a couple summer outfits at H&M the other day when I stopped by Sephora. I mean who could resist going there to at least look around, right?

There in all its glory was a Sephora Sun Safety Kit. I snagged the last one.

You see when this first came out online, it sold out twice before being taken off the site. And then they sold out as soon as they touched the Sephora stores two weeks later. I guess I was at the right place at the right time.

For $30 this is what it comes with:

  • .14 oz Murad Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15
  • .23 oz DDF Protect and Correct UV Moisturizer SPF 15
  • .5 oz Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20
  • .25 oz Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Defense Lotion SPF 30
  • 1.0 oz Anthony Logistics Facial Moisturizer SPF 15
  • .1 oz Clarins UV Plus Day Screen High Protection SPF 40
  • .34 oz Korres Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream SPF 30
  • .33 oz Cosmedicine Medi-matte Oil Control Lotion SPF 20
  • .08 oz Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55 PA+++
  • .25 oz Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Cream SPF 15
  • .4 oz Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 20
  • .25 oz Smashbox Photo Finish UVA/UVB SPF 15
  • .01 oz Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Well-Rested for Eyes SPF 30

Uh this kit is supposed to be a $193.16 retail value.

I wanted to compare the size of it with a regular sized pack of Wet Ones.

It would have been awesome if there were more products inside but no...it was empty. It's a everything you see is what you get which is fine with me. These seemed like a lot of deluxe sample sized items that will last me the summer and probably beyond that.

Overall I'm freaking excited to get a hold of this. I'm hoping some where in San Diego there is another one being sold and I can buy one for my mother but I doubt it.

What's been exciting in your life? Is it sad that I get enthusiastic over sunscreen?

Maybelline Fit Foundation

There are some things I will splurge and others where I will try to save money on. I usually splurge on foundations but I've heard some pretty good reviews about the Maybelline Fit Foundation so I picked one up to try. Keeping in mind that I'm comparing an $8 foundation to a $30-50 foundation.

The packaging outside is simple and I love that the product is in a sturdy glass container.

But there's no pump. It's messy and I'm pretty clumsy so I already dropped it on the carpet. Ugh.

I got the color 120 which is the third lightest color they had. It looks like it has some yellow undertones which not a lot of drugstore foundations have.

I swatched a little on my hand and as you can clearly see, it's really runny.

I blended it in and the color is a nice match. I'm NC20 to give you an idea.

I noticed right away that it's lightweight on the skin and easy to blend. I can see why most people like it but it's not the right "fit" for me. Pun intended and meant for you to laugh.

I have acne. I'm not talking about tiny pimples and blackheads, although I do have those too. But massive zits. Everywhere.

This foundation is light coverage. I wouldn't even say medium because it's so sheer. If you have a lot of imperfections you want to cover, then this won't do it for you.

It did last about 6-7 hours with primer underneath which is a decent amount of time. I had to retouch afterwards but I can live with that.

Overall I recommend this foundation if you want light natural coverage.

By the way I'm wearing a brand new lipstick which I'm head over heels for. You like?

Finals and L'Oreal Infallible (again)

Finals are done and summer break just started. I'm so happy I could weep but I won't. I'm pretty sure you guys are tired from all my drugstore make up reviews but I told you I had a massive haul! I'm almost done... I swear!

Okay so on to good stuff.

You all know I love L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows except for the matte ones. Um can anyone tell me why good matte eye shadows are incredibly hard to find? While we ponder that, I'll go into detail about their 3 newest colors.

I present to you Gleaming Bronze, Gold Imperial, and Pink Sapphire.

 Gleaming Bronze

Gold Imperial

Pink Sapphire

They were exactly as I expected. Smooth, great pigmentation, and lasted on the eye lids for a full shift without using primer.

Gleaming Bronze is a mix of moss green and bronze/metallic.

Gold Imperial is a bright gold. I can totally see using this for a night out.

Pink Sapphire is a true shimmery pink. Not baby pink or hot pink. Just pink.

My favorite of the bunch is Gleaming Bronze. It's quite usual and I wish the pictures could show you the color better.

Do you love L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows too? What's you favorite?

Big Lots Carries Make Up?

I like Big Lots. It's cheap and conveniently next to my mom's house but I don't go as often as I would like. So here I was browsing, thinking I should buy some hand soap when I see a stacks of Philosophy make up.

First of all I didn't even know Philosphy had a make up line but when I looked up the retail prices online, they were ranging from $18- $40.

Uh... these are being sold for only $3 at Big Lots. Please do not walk to your car, run. But always keep in mind that running over strangers and loved ones are frowned upon in every country.

This is a little sneak peek.

The packaging is exactly what I imagined from Philosophy. Classic and clean.

The Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder

Healthy Cream Blush in Bare Your Soul

Of course I'll post more pictures and reviews but I wanted to get this one up first.

I've been hearing a lot of talk that Big Lots will be carrying more brand name make up lines. I hope so because the prices are ridiculously good!

Thoughts? How was your weekend?

L'Oreal Color Riche Lipsticks

I was never really into lipstick because A) my lips are extremely dry and chapped, B) they never lasted long enough for me to justify spending money on it.

But this year I've been expanding my horizons and picking up a couple of different brands of  lipsticks to at least try it out. I didn't have high hopes with the brand new 2012 L'Oreal Color Riche Lipsticks but boy am I surprised.

First of all I love the clean cut semi matte gold packaging. Tres chic as one would say! I picked up 106 Sparkling Coral and 105 Rose Agate.

The swatches came out to be very sheer on my arm but on the lips it was a different story. I swatched twice on the arm and three times on my lips.

Sparkling coral is a mix of hot red and yummy orange glitter. It's really fun to play with and I don't look like a clown when I wear it. Trust me certain reds are not meant for me especially since I have fair skin.

Rose Agate is a nude shimmer with hints of pink. It's a universally flattering color and it's not too shiny so I can wear this to work.

Here's another quick shot.

These lasted about 4-5 hours which for me was impressive. These didn't moisturize my lips but they didn't dry them out either.

Overall I'm a happy camper and I'll pick these up again.

What's your favorite lip product? Have you tried the L'Oreal Color Riche Lipsticks?

Louboutin Beauty Line

I think we can all agree that Christian Louboutin is a genius. An evil genius who creates wonderful masterpieces for women's feet with a really high price tag.

The red soles are his iconic signature and now he's carrying that into his new beauty collection called Christian Louboutin Beaute. It will be launching next year, 2013.

I can't afford his shoes (although I hope I will one day) but Louboutin lipsticks sounds promising.

Anyone else excited?

Collar Necklaces

It's 10:30 pm and I'm still studying. Finals are killing me people!

When it comes to jewelry I mostly stick with simplistic designs. I saw a collar necklace the other day on a window display and did a double take.

These collar necklaces are just calling my name. They are edgy but classy. Simple but gives an everyday outfit dimension.

 Gold under a yellow blouse.

Makes such an unexpected statement.

Dress up a collar button up blouse with rhinestones.

This one is my favorite. Brass chain links and a broach.

I seriously need to get my hands on one of these. Anyone know where to get one for a reasonable price?

Hope you all had a lovely Tuesday!

Revlon Nail Art Break-Up

I might be the world's worst nail artist. But I still like playing with them so I snagged three brand new Revlon Nail Art Break-Up polishes.

I got Cruel Intentions, Steamy Affair, and Heart Break. If you notice each one of these have two polishes on each side. They have a number on each end so you know which one to put on first.

Directions as listed by Revlon :

Apply 2 coats of #1 and let dry.
Overlay #2 for crackle effect.

Steamy Affair has a nude base color and an orange crackle on top. The orange isn't as bright as I was hoping but more muted. I'm not 100% sure I like it.

Heart Break has a pink glitter base and red crackle on top.

This was after 3 layers of the pink base. Nothing but chunky glitter that got all over the place.

And then when I added the red polish, there was no crackle! What the heck? It just looked awful.

Finally I tried the Cruel Intentions and this one happened to be my favorite. The base is a gold chrome and the top coat is black. It turned out way better than what the picture shows.

I'd like to note that every crackle polish was thinker than its counter parts.

Overall I wouldn't pay full price ($8.95) for these. I do like the shatter trend but I'll probably pick different type of nail polishes next time.

Did these work out for you? Tell me your thoughts.
